Patricia Mahoney, LCSW received her Bachelors Degree from Arizona State University in 1993, and her Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work in 1996. Patricia also completed additional studies in Birmingham, England where she participated in research regarding the needs of mental heath consumers in the community. Patricia has extensive experience in the mental health field as a case manager in an intensive outpatient setting, a youth/transitional aged youth social worker, crisis screener/immediate response counselor and family reunification support counselor. After moving to San Diego, CA in 2001, Patricia has worked as an adolescent and family therapist, a Superior Court Family Court counselor/mediator (and has completed all mandatory trainings and certifications in the area). For the past several years Ms. Mahoney has worked as a psychotherapist in a community mental health setting, serving multiple different needs and populations, and has extensive experience working with persons of all ages and backgrounds.. She enjoys a relaxed, casual and engaging approach to therapy, utilizing modalities such as CBT, solution-focused and supportive counseling as well as Mindfulness based interventions. Ms. Mahoney incorporates effective psycho-education into her practice to enhance the therapeutic experience.. She specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, mood disorders, parenting support and phase of life issues – particularly transitional aged youth, adults and older adults. She also has significant experience working with persons struggling with trauma, grief and loss, couples struggling with infertility, postpartum depression and marital conflict/discord.

Patricia’s practice is located in the Shelter Island community neighborhood of San Diego.
